The photos don't really do it justice to be fair. I call Caspian Gulls shape changers, as they change appearance every time they move. Each time I photograph it it looks different.
Its bill at times looked really long and slender, but seconds later it looked unremarkable.

The first image really shows how long legged these gulls are Carl, is this a good field reference.
ReplyDeleteHi Col, yes it is a good feature to look for on Caspian Gull. Beware though as it is not always easy to judge leg length and the bloody things can vary from gull to gull.
